Mark Spencer Hotel and AppartmentsThe Mark Spencer is a great hotel in Downtown Portland.  Rakowskis and Bergs have stayed here.  They also have apartments with stocked kitchens.  They will often negotiate a cheaper rate over the phone.

Hotel Lucia

Hotel Lucia in the heart of downtown is my favorite luxury hotel.  Believe me, I have never stayed there, but it is REALLY nice.  It also has the BEST location.

Inn at Northrup Station

This is perhaps the hippest hotel in Portland.  It is a really interesting (and nice!) place to stay.  If you like public transportation, it is located on the streetcar line, and numerous bus lines.

Cheapest Hotels

For the CHEAPEST places (and some of them are 3 and 3.5 star hotels) I recommend www.hotwire.com

Be aware that you don’t know what hotel it is before you book, so follow these instructions carefully.

1)     Beaverton Oregon has the best values.  3 star hotels are $55 a night. 

2)     You can limit your search to Portland, not Vancouver which is included by default.  Avoid the airport hotels if you want to be anywhere near downtown Portland or the wedding location.

3)     Limit your search to Downtown, and if possible, exclude the Downtown:  Convention Center area.  It is much better in (my opinion) to be in downtown proper.

Official Berg/Rakowski Wedding Hotel

Extended Stay Deluxe:  Hillsboro, Oregon

They provide a stocked kitchenette, and the opportunity to spend time with the Rakowski family and many other guests who will be staying here.  This is the closest hotel to Adam and Susie’s apartment, and to Adam’s brother’s house.
