Central Turkey
From Eastern Turkey, we went West, along the Southern Border with Syria.  Eventually we arrived in Cappadocia, but not before stops in Diyarbakir, Mardin, and Urfa.

Diyarbakir, Mardin, and Urfa

These are Kurdish cities, with large populations of Arabs and some Turks.  There are very few tourists.

Cappadocia

Cappadocia is an amazing geographical and archaeological location.  Cappadocian valleys are filled with these strange formations that have housed human beings, for millennia.  The Hittite empire was based in Cappadocia, and created amazing underground cities where they could protect themselves from invaders.
