Like Machu Pichu, the Grand Canyon is one of those sights that everyone says is a must...a destination whose reputation is so built up, you know you are goint ot be disapointed.  Like Machu Pichu, it is everybit as grand as everyone says.  We were there over a two day period that was sunny, with fast moving thunderstorms.  It was so difficult to get a photo of a lightning flash with my new digital--What I wouldn't have given for my trusty old Pentax SF-10 with a roll of Velvia ASA 60.  It took over 300 attempts with my Nikon D-100, and the one photo I got sucked!
